He was until spring of this year the popular morning host on a classic rock station. Now the former DJ who lives about 75 miles north of Pittsburgh in Hermitage, Pennsylvania, is due to be sentenced to prison in a few days.

He pleaded guilty to possession of child pornography.

He faces up to 10 years in prison, as well as a fine of up to $250,000. And he faces even more: being ordered to pay perhaps $200,000 or so in restitution.

The request for restitution has been filed by an attorney for "Vicky."

"Vicky" is a woman in her 20s who was photographed or videotaped as a girl. Her images appeared on the man's computer in a search by law enforcement officials.

The attorney has filed for restitution in similar cases. In an Indiana case, a man there was found guilty in federal court of possession of child pornography. The attorney for "Vicky" filed for restitution there as well, asking for nearly $200,000.

The amount was broken down for the court as follows:

  • $165,905 to pay for future counseling
  • $23,205.86 for treatment and "legal-related" costs
  • $4,200 for attorney fees

The total came to $193,310.86.

The man was eventually ordered to pay $4,500 plus legal fees to "Vicky."

In the local case, the U.S. Attorney's Office in Pittsburgh charged the former disc jockey with storing 238 child porn images on his computer, even though he had only 13 photographs and three videos. Federal law counts each video as the equivalent of 75 images.

The 55-year-old man faces losing a decade of his life in prison for what's he done, as well as up to a quarter of a million dollars in fines. Will a court decide to tack on hundreds of thousands of dollars more on to his sentence? That will be answered at the sentencing hearing on Aug. 25.
